Crystal & Allison

Crystal Carpenter and Allison Greening met as students in college at University of Missouri Kansas City. Crystal who is currently employed at Whatsoever Community Center, a Northeast Kansas City non profit, offered Allison a job in spring of 2008.

Allison graduated from UMKC in the winter of 2009 with a degree in Art Education. She hopes to someday begin her own not for profit program teaching entrepreneurship thought art with adolescent youth 16-23. This drove her to begin her own business.

Crystal studied jewelry, sculpture/foundry at MSSU and printmaking at UMKC. She spent a summer in Mullsjö, Sweden learning photography. Her passion is teaching young people gardening, cooking, jewelry, photography, painting, earth science, biology, environment issues, filmmaking, and whatever else the kids want to learn.

The belief of both girls is that life is what you make it. If you consume, which we all do, then how can we with good conscious? Out of this idea sprang Green Chicks. The business concept is to use items that are manufactured but no longer useful to most of us and turn them into something new. We give life to old clothes, pop bottles, jewelry, bags, and anything else that we can see that will benefit the modern woman. Our products are one of a kind and can be custom fitted to any size.
